A new year. Some how it doesn't seem that new starting off in Concepción de Maria. Some how or other there is something that occurs back in Minnesota that dramatizes the passing of the year. I'm not sure if it is the knowledge that spring is almost on the way, the excitement of the holidays dying down, or just something they put in the water to keep people from going crazy over the holidays that is finally wearing off. Returning to Honduras after being back in the US was a bit of an adjustment. It is always hard to come back to this town. Life here is just so different, yet it now has a very comforting familiarity; and after wandering around with out a permanent home for the holidays it was also comforting to come back to the place I call "home". They say "home is where the heart is" and I can see why. You grow accustomed to what you are subjected to. The people, the places, the routines all become an ingrained part of you, which would probably explain my insatiable hunger for beans and tortillas after eating like a king for 2 weeks. My sudden royalty has managed to impressed upon me an extra ten pounds which I am now working hard to get rid of.
