Getting Married

September 1, 1999-The Engagement

Two years ago,
a relationship was rekindled
after a chance meeting with my
high school sweetheart.
On September 1st, he proposed.
A “closed” sign hung in the window of the
Egyptian restaurant where we had our first date,
exactly nine years earlier.
Disheartened, Shawn
suggested we walk around a nearby park.
At the top of a hill, near the park’s castle tower,
Shawn had exquisitely re-created “our”
restaurant-complete with wine, roses, and the entrees
we had ordered and a beautiful hand-made card
expressing the ways he loved me.

As the sun set,
Shawn knelt,
and asked me to marry him.

May 12, 2000

After a lifetime of planning, months of preparation and many hours of work, toil, and brain storming; the perfect wedding was ready to commence. The ceremony, one of the longest in the history of Epiphany Catholic Church, was exquisite and had almost all of the components Jennifer had hoped for.

The bride was preceded by 14 groomsmen and bridesmaids. Along with 4 flower girls and a ring bearer. The church was decorated with the remnants of Easter and flowers provided by Mom Silvera.

She walked down the isle with more than 400 sets of eyes eagerly watching her to the composure of "Gabrielle's Oboe" played by a string quartet and accompanied by the timpani. Her smile was as wide as it has ever been and she radiated beauty and elegance. This was truly a night to remember and the comments even a year after the wedding have lead them to believe that the wedding will be remembered for some time to come.

After a beautiful homily given by Father B Reiser, the mass and wedding ceremony ended and the festivities quickly began. Dinner was served with many fixings and libations for all. They danced until the efforts of the day exhausted them. They then retired to the Saint Paul Hotel.

The honeymoon was just what they needed after so many intense months of preparation. A week long lazy stay in Ixtapa, Mexico, where they were able to brush up on their Spanish, and enjoy each other's company.

And....they lived happily ever after.
